Introduced by the Canadian government in 2015 to cater to a growing demand the Express Entry (EE) Immigration system is a fast-track program that allows individuals around the globe to immigrate to Canada within just a few months. The goal of this program was to develop long-term economic growth by addressing the future labor needs. Given the current global change in the economy, it has become a necessity for many individuals to attain permanent residence in order to pursue their normal social and personal life. Here at MJS Immigration Consultancy Inc., we identify and understand this need and help you with express entry without any hurdles on the way.
Our aim is to simplify the details of the express entry procedure by breaking it into frequently asked questions.
What is it?
Express entry is an online application process that enables skilled workers, who aspire to be permanent residents of Canada, to send a form directly to the Canadian government. The submitted forms are then screened and top-ranked applicants are then invited to submit an application for permanent residence.
Opportunity always knocks the door once. Express entry is the key to this door. At MJS Immigration Consultancy Inc., we help you fill these forms and arrange your documents from the start to the end.
Why is it so popular?
- Fully digital:
Enables easier access and swifter processing of files than conventional processing.
- Duration:
The Canadian express entry has a quick turn-around time.
- Efficacy:
Applicants have a better probability of being gainfully employed in their respective fields.
- Practical:
The online questionnaire provides a more realistic insight on the applicant’s credentials as well as his weak points (which they can build upon to succeed in Canada).
- Additional benefits:
Candidates can improve their chances of being chosen by undertaking additional courses relevant to their occupation, improving language skills or obtaining a job offer from a Canadian employer.
MJS Immigration Consultancy Inc. is delighted to help you select the ones that match the above eligibility credentials.
How does it work?
- Determining Eligibility: To be eligible for the Express Entry system, the applicant must fall under one of the following categories of federal economic immigration programs.
- Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC);
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC); or
- Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC).
The minimum requirements for each of the categories are mentioned below:
- Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC):
- At least 1 year of continuous full-time or equivalent paid work experience in the past 10 years in a skilled occupation under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill level 0, A, or B
- Intermediate or better language ability in English or French;
- An educational credential (certificate, diploma, or degree) and an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report for candidates who received their education outside of Canada
- Candidates must also obtain at least 67 points in the points grid.
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC):
- At least one year of skilled, professional, or technical work experience in Canada within 3 years of the application date
- Language proficiency
- Federal Skilled Trades Program:
- Minimum 2 years of full-time work experience in a skilled trade within the 5-year period of submitting an application
- Should meet the job requirements of the skilled trade
- Full-time job offer in Canada for a period of at least 1 year or possess a certificate of qualification in the skilled trade that has been provided by an official Canadian authority
- Language proficiency
- Creating an Express Entry profile: An applicant who meets the eligibility criteria can then proceed to submit an Express Entry profile, which acts as an Expression of Interest (EOI), to the pool of candidates. Once the profile is submitted, the eligible applicants will receive a score and will be ranked against the other candidates in the pool. The ranking score for EE is based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which is used as a cut-off point in further selection. The CRS, which determines the applicant’s odds of being economically successful in the country, is based on the applicant’s career, educational history, language proficiency and whether they have already received a qualifying job offer or provincial nomination in Canada. A higher CRS score increases the likelihood of the applicant receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
- Receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA): The Express Entry draws are done at regular intervals (once in two weeks) by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Through the draws, the candidates who qualify above a certain rank receive an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence. Candidates who do not receive an ITA by the end of 12 months can simply re-submit their profile, if they’re still eligible.
- Submitting an application for permanent residence:The applicants who receive an Invitation to Apply(ITA) are given 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residence. This application includes extensive personal information and supporting documentation and can be submitted online. Once the application is submitted, it is processed for approval, which takes about six months (or less). The approved applicants are then given authorization to activate their permanent resident status in Canada.
How long does the process take?
The Express Entry system is set-up to offer fast-paced immigration to Canada. The IRCC conducts draws to select candidates once every two weeks. For candidates who receive an invitation to apply (ITA) soon after entering the pool and who immediately submit their final application for permanent residence, the entire process may take six months or less. However, some applications may take longer.
